NGA Hooters Tour - Cutter Creek Classic - Snow Hill, NC

NGA/Hooters Tour descends on Cutter Creek
Second Round Update: Brandon Brown ties course record, moves to 2nd-

Snow Hill, N.C.
- July 15, 2011 - A day after setting the course record with a 9-under 63 at Cutter Creek Golf Club, Jason Cuthberston shot a 2-under 70 on Friday to maintain control of the NGA/Hooters Tour Cutter Creek Golf Classic heading into the weekend.
Cuthbertson, of Conway, Ark., started the day with a two-shot lead, but the University of Arkansas alumnus ran into trouble early in the second round. Cuthbertson bogeyed three of his first seven holes before rallying with four birdies over his final 10 holes to finish at 11-under par for the tournament and keep the outright lead in the $200,000 event.
Brandon Brown, who has two wins this season, matched Cuthberston’s course record with a 63 of his own on Friday. Brown, of Shelbyville, Ky., birdied his first hole of the day and stayed hot, shooting a front-side 30 and moving to 10-under par for the day with an eagle on his 14th hole. Unfortunately for Brown, a bogey on his final hole of the day left him one shot out of the lead and tied for the course record.

About the Course:

Chattahoochee Golf Course
Hole #14 - View from the Green
Located on the northern banks of Lake Sidney Lanier, the oldest golf course in North Georgia is now the newest. The renovated Chattahoochee Golf Course has something for everyone…from scratch golfer to novice. The multi-million dollar renovation puts Chattahoochee in a class by itself when it comes to municipal courses. Course Crafters and architect Kevin Hargrave teamed up to renovate this classic Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed layout. New tee complexes, Bent Grass Dominant Southern Greens, new carts, concrete cart paths, clubhouse improvements and a new pro teaching facility are sure to challenge the best of the best.

Since opening in 1960, Chattahoochee Golf Club has been one of the premier public golf courses in northeast Georgia. Built on 183 acres of rolling farmland, the course design allows for easy walking and is enjoyable for both scratch and high handicap golfers. This course was not only built alongside Lake Lanier, but features some lakes of its own that come into play on three holes. Even though the fairways are lined with trees, they still afford generous landing areas.

As is typical of a Robert Trent Jones design, the course has large undulating greens averaging approximately 7000 square feet. Facilities include a newly remodeled clubhouse, two bentgrass practice putting greens, a driving range, a practice area including a sand bunker and chipping green.

Let the 2011 golf season begin!

Off to Florida to practice the next few weeks, Brandon is preparing himself for what I think will be his best year yet.  His first tournament will begin February 16th for the NGA Hooters Tour-Members Only Tournament at Black Bear Golf Club in Eustis, Florida.
Black Bear Golf Club, Eustis, FL
It's a three day tournament in which the winner will receive free tournament entry fees for the entire year (an estimated $23K value).  Second place will get half of the tournament fees free and so on.  He has been updating me on his practicing the last several days and with shooting a 68 yesterday, I think he's getting back to the "swing" of things.
